Boat Operators Training 2025

Alia, in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT), has conducted the 2025 edition of its Boat Operators Training Program. Held from 1st to 3rd July, the annual initiative marks its 11th year and emphasizes Alia’s enduring commitment to enhancing safety, professionalism, and operational excellence within the Maldivian marine transport sector.

The program brought together 50 boat captains from resorts, government institutions, and marine transport operators across the country. With a strong focus on both technical and practical skills, this year’s sessions were carefully curated to support the evolving needs of the marine industry.

Participants engaged in a comprehensive curriculum covering maritime regulations, emergency response procedures, and onboard health and fire safety management. In addition to theory-based classes, participants benefited from practical, hands-on training in the maintenance and servicing of outboard engines, along with interactive exercises designed to strengthen problem-solving and decision-making skills at sea.

As the authorized distributor of Yamaha outboard engines in the Maldives, Alia has long invested in capacity building efforts aimed at refining the skills of boat operators. These training programs are part of a broader strategy to ensure that captains are not only knowledgeable but also equipped with practical skills and technical expertise to navigate the increasing demands of modern marine operations.

Alia remains grateful for the strong and ongoing support from its industry partners, whose collaboration continues to make this initiative possible.

With safety and competence at the forefront, the Boat Operators Training Program remains a cornerstone of Alia’s efforts to support and elevate the marine transport industry in the Maldives.
