The cooperation between Yamaha Motor Company and Alia began 40 years ago in 1947, during a time when outboard motor engines have just been introduced to the Maldivian Market and was still an unfamiliar concept. But as more people began installing outboard engines on boats, in just a few years Yamaha became the preferred brand for majority of boat owners. Today, despite the tough competition, Yamaha still holds over 90% share in Maldives Commercial outboard Engine’s market.
The close cooperation between Yamaha and Alia along with the importance and diligent attention given to the Maldivian Market is one of the main reasons for the major success Yamaha has earned in the Maldives today. As the sole distributor, Alia has expanded its line of Yamaha products from Outboard Engines to Motorcycles, Water Vehicles and Golf Cars.
