Fifty years into our journey as a successful trading company, ALIA is proud to have established a strong, loyal bond with thousands of people across the Maldives and overseas.
We look forward to venturing into the future with your continued trust in us.
The Beginning of ALIA
ALIA's first trading commodities were coconut wood, timber, and smoked fish collected in a local island. At that time coconut wood and other local timber were some of the most widely used building materials in the islands of Maldives. Smoked fish was used by all Maldivians, in everyday dishes and delicacies.
The goods collected were transported on sail boats to Male'. More workers were employed and the need for employee housing arose, leading to Ali Abdulla's first construction project in 1962 in the form of a staff housing block.
Consolidating on the resourceful connections established through the initial experiences, the company's first official business entity - ALIA Carpentry - was registered in 1964, its name deriving from the first four letters of the founder's name.
The business operations of Alia are carried out under two main umbrellas – Alia Construction Pvt. Ltd. and Alia Investments Pvt. Ltd. Alia Construction Pvt. Ltd. is one of the most trusted names today in Maldivian Construction Industry. Alia Investments Pvt. Ltd. has also diversified as the holding company for various trading activities.
The list of milestones is long, but one of the most significant of them all is their 40 year old cooperate partnership with Yamaha Motor Company of Japan. We have expanded the line of Yamaha products from Outboard engines to Motor Cycles, Water Vehicles and Golf Cars.
Apart from Yamaha, Alia is also the distributor of Kohler bathroom and kitchen products, and imports a variety of timber products, steel and hardware materials typically used for local construction.
The future of Alia looks promising and we aim to succeed as we proceed.
